Wellbeing Gamer Life Hack: Master Emotions, Win Big

Don’t Let Negative Emotions Sabotage Your Goals and Wellbeing

Hey, listen—life can be like gaming. And if there’s one thing we gamers know, it’s how to respawn after a bad match. But just like in gaming, maintaining your wellbeing while chasing your goals can be a challenge.

SighFye and I, as you know, are gamers to our core. Whether we’re grinding through Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or constructing entire cities in Minecraft, we live for the thrill of the game. But gaming isn’t always just fun and excitement—it’s also a rollercoaster of stress, frustration, and moments that test your patience. And managing those moments is key to protecting your wellbeing.

The truth is, whether in gaming or life, practicing consistently is what leads to progress. If you’re interested in exploring how the habit of practicing in games can shape real-life achievements, check out my post on how practicing in games improved my life.

Call of Duty: Grit, Goals, and Wellbeing

Take Call of Duty, for example. Have you ever tried unlocking those camo skins? It’s pure torture some days—dodging campers, surviving lobbies full of sweaty players, and feeling your patience wear thin. It’s stressful, sure, but pushing through these moments builds resilience. That rush of positive emotion when the camo finally unlocks? It’s not just about achievement—it’s about knowing you overcame the challenge, which does wonders for your wellbeing.

Minecraft: Survival and Fulfillment

Then there’s Minecraft. At first, I thought, “Creative mode sounds awesome. All the blocks I need, no limits!” But guess what? It got boring fast. The real magic happens in survival mode—when you’re braving the dark, battling creepers, and digging endlessly for diamonds. Sure, it’s stressful and even scary at times, but when the build is complete, the pride and satisfaction are unmatched. That fulfillment doesn’t just feel good—it’s a boost to your mental and emotional wellbeing.

And that’s just it—whether you’re unlocking camos or building a fortress, the joy you feel at the end of the journey comes from pushing through those moments of doubt, annoyance, and frustration. The grind doesn’t just help you achieve your goals—it strengthens your wellbeing along the way.

The Manifestation Trap

For years, I bought into the idea that achieving goals should always feel good. Manifestation? Sure, it works, but I thought it meant staying in a bubble of positive vibes 24/7. The moment something felt hard or uncomfortable, I’d convince myself the goal wasn’t worth it or worse—that I wasn’t capable of achieving it. I’d tap out.

But here’s what I’ve learned: it’s not your emotions that shape your reality—it’s your beliefs. Feeling stressed, annoyed, or even downright defeated doesn’t mean you’re failing; it simply means you’re in the thick of the grind. Your beliefs are the foundation, and they’ll guide you through, helping you maintain a sense of wellbeing no matter how you’re feeling in the moment.

The Gamer’s Guide to Life

Sometimes, life goals are like unlocking that ultra-rare camo in Call of Duty. You’ll have bad matches. You’ll rage quit. But you’ll also get better. Other times, life feels like surviving Minecraft. It’s scary, monotonous, and downright exhausting. But every block you place—every tough day you push through—brings you closer to something truly amazing.

Don’t get me wrong: life doesn’t have to be a 24/7 grind. Just like in gaming, breaks are essential. Step away from the screen, stretch, and grab a snack. Rest isn’t just part of the process—it’s vital for maintaining your wellbeing. But don’t let those off days or negative emotions convince you to uninstall the game altogether.

Keep Going: Goals and Wellbeing

Negative emotions aren’t your enemy. They’re just part of the process. Allow them, feel them, and then keep going. You’ll have good moments that make you laugh, bad moments that make you curse, and everything in between. But at the end of the day, when you hit your goal—whether it’s in life, Minecraft, or Call of Duty—you’ll look back and realize it was all worth it.

So, go ahead—embrace the grind, rage a little if you need to, but don’t ever stop building your dreams or your wellbeing, one block at a time.
